]]>The midwest has been riding since day one of the trails opening as they have had just a remarkable season. Some flirting with slightly above freezing temperatures here and there but for the most part not enough to put them out of commission as mother nature has done to us so many times. Much of the same as we head into the weekend, moderate snow falls for the north country but nothing crazy. Southern MN and much of WI could see some heavier accumulating snow to end their weekend. Potential for a big snow event late next week for much of the midwest but still too early for Johndee.com to call.
Meanwhile out west, Colorado is getting absolutely pummeled with snow, but with that comes an increased chance for avalanches. Remember to always know before you go, and Rocky Mountain Sled Condition's Facebook page is a good place to start! Montana is also expected to experience some heavy snowfall through tomorrow. All in all most western riding zones have decent snowpack and most can expect more on the way... send some our way would ya!
]]>I'm just going to go ahead and rip the bandaid off, if you're in the Northeast and you want to ride you better do so before this weekend because after that it's all downhill. According to our winter weather experts at Upstatesnow.com this week could be the last rideable week until after MLK weekend or further. The north country received some much needed snow last night (1/6) and can expect more tomorrow into Thursday. Friday, the warm up hits and with it comes rain, and a lot of it... from there it doesn't look to turn around anytime soon as the warm sticks around for awhile.
Well that was pretty depressing... now for the good news. The Midwest will remain cold with temperatures under freezing other than a few days this week up around or above freezing for the northern WI and northern lower MI (not too bad). Pretty quiet weather wise the remainder of the week through the weekend. After that cold air dumps in bringing what could be some significant LES to the usual areas according to JohnDee.com. The long range forecast indicates temperatures will run below average so the snow will not be going anywhere. Maybe if you live in the Northeast you should consider a trip to the UP...
The Rocky Mountains are off to a good start as they approach mid season riding conditions. Pretty widespread snowfall over the last 72 hours helping out those that needed it and making those that had it even better. You can check out the snowpack depth and snowfall totals out over at Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions website. And there's more on the way, ID, WY, MT and even the PNW can expect some decent additional snow through Wednesday night.
]]>And thank you to all of who you purchased a raffle ticket, although you may not have won, the Pediatric Cancer Foundation (PCF) was the real winner as we raised thousands of dollars for their organization!
We would also like to once again thank our build partners for making Cody's new Alpha one of a kind, Bikeman Performance, Zbroz Racing, TKI CNC, Deviant Ink, Cheetah Factory Racing, MotoOption, and Sun & Snow Recreation.
]]>In other news the Midwest has nothing to worry about. With many people already riding in the north country and more snow on the way, it's shaping up to be one of the best starts to the snowmobile season they've had in a long time. Expect moderate snowfall today throughout the Northwoods with the LE machine kicking on for parts of the UP through Wednesday. As a strong cold front moves in and settles in for the remainder of the week MN, N. IA, WI, the UP and northern lower MI could all see some snow. Heavy snowfall for the western UP, specifically the Keweenaw region Wednesday. Beyond that expect the cold to stick around with the possibility of another snow event early next week! As always check JohnDee.com for daily winter weather updates.
As for the Rocky Mountains, they've got snow... and lots of it. The early season has been good to you folks as many have been riding since before Thanksgiving. That being said be careful and know before you go. That old snowpack from earlier this season can create treacherous avalanche conditions if you are not careful. Current snow depths below...
]]>There will be live music in Wakley's Speakeasy from 6pm to midnight as Joe Bolton and the Just Ahead Band joins us. We will have plenty of cool door prizes you could win including a pair of XS skis we will be giving away! Our custom 2020 Alpha build sled will be on display as well and we will be selling raffle tickets for it to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

]]>We have had a very successful year moving all our tooling for our current ski models in-house and perfecting their manufacturing process. With the addition of this new XSX loop we had some hurdles to overcome, first and foremost the design and machining of the new tooling. After much testing it was determined the original tooling just wasn't going to work.
We pride ourselves on delivering a premium product and we want to get this just right for you! So as of right now we are reworking the tool to make sure we get the product we had envisioned and you have been waiting so long for.
It's unfortunate we missed the 2018/19 season, we will not let something like this happen again. We are very excited for the future and are already working hard on preparing the next season!
Thank you in advance for your understanding and for anyone waiting for their XSX loops check your inbox!
]]>It would appear another winter has come and gone... at least for us flat landers. The reality is we are at the tail end of March, and with being able to ride right up through last weekend we can't complain too much.
For the Northeast despite the ups and downs we still had a pretty darn good season. The Tug and Adirondacks had good snowfall all season and there's still snow in some spots. There was even one week in early February when pretty much the entire state of New York and New England were rideable. It's been awhile since we've had good widespread rideable conditions and that was nice to see. The last week in February was also great for many clubs across the state and the riding was excellent. Huge thank you to Upstatesnow.com for providing excellent reports as always and not beating around the bush!
Take a look at the snowfall totals for the state below.
The Midwest still has some snow in the northwoods but with temps running slightly above normal it won't be around for long so get out while you can. Rains continue to fall across the Midwest changing over to snow on the backside of the system but nothing more than a sloppy inch. Things look pretty quite to start off April with the possibility of some snow at the end of next week but nothing to get your hopes up over. JohnDee.com has posted his final map for the season, we can't thank him enough for the daily updates.
Out west... that's another story, your season is far from over. Typical spring like conditions for the lower elevations, cold nights making the snow hard in the morning and softening up later in the day from the high sun. In the higher elevations there's still a great base and plenty of fresh. Some areas have peaked in total snowpack, others have not. Idaho and Montana being those who're still getting dumped on can expect an additional foot by the end of today. Continue to check Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions for the latest on what's happening in the west.
]]>As we anticipate the warm up today through the end of the week, if you live anywhere other than the Tug/Adirondack region in New York ride now because by the weekend you'll be looking at a sea of brown as the last of the snow is wiped away. The north country has enough snow that they should survive the this blow and be rideable for weeks to come. Friday evening a cold spell moves in from the west and rain showers transition back to snow, but don't get too excited as not much accumulation is expected. Next week appears to be pretty quite with temperatures returning back to normal/slightly below average, but either way nothing "big" that would extend our riding season is expected.
See the snow coverage map below, after this week the dark purple and green will be the only rideable regions left. As always thank you to Upstatesnow.com for the no B.S. reporting this season!
Well if you're in the Dakotas you're happier than a clam... if you're anywhere else in the Midwest not so much. The western part of S. Dakota could see upwards of a foot, whereas the rest of the state and the eastern part of N. Dakota can expect half that. The Black Hills are going to get blasted though with a possible 2'+! The rest of the Midwest can expect above average temperatures as the freeze line moves north into Canada. Rain continues into Thursday switching back to snow late Thursday nigh with the possibility of a couple of inches for northern MN, WI and the UP. Next week temperatures will run below average with no significant snows in the forecast for JohnDee.com.
Out west, the complete opposite story, they continue to get snow on top of the record year they've already has... many areas will be riding well into late spring/early summer! With that being said, avalanche warnings are abundant and as long as they keep getting snow they won't be going anywhere. Please check the conditions before you go! Colorado has already seen 4'+ in the last two days and it's still falling. Make Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions your go to source when looking for snow reports.
]]>Come out and check out all the awesome vendors as well as see the new 2020 snowmobile models and even demo ride them, weather permitting. Old man winter looks like he'll keep holding on as the temperatures stay below freezing with the chance for even more snow next week!
For more info on the event please visit SnoFest's event page here.
]]>
Our next system here in the Northeast looks to roll through mid to late week, nothing too spectacular but some additional accumulation is expected to end the month. As we roll into March, Upstatesnow.com was initially looking at a low pressure system moving to our northwest (yes you know what that means, another thaw). But it would appear that the cold arctic Canadian air is going to hold its own and keep most of the warmer air to the south. With that being said we could be in store for a snowy first week of March... we hope.
For the midwest, winter appears to hold on for the foreseeable future as the freeze line hangs well below Interstate 80, well below average for this time of year. A small clipper system moves through this week bringing a generalized 1-4" for most of the midwest. Things appear to calm down as we reach the Thursday with another system moving in over the weekend. Totals from 2-4" for most, while some areas may see 4"+. Some of the southern Midwest can expect some winter weather next week, while the LE machine fires up over the UP. For more be sure to visit JohnDee.com for his daily forecast.
More of the same for the Rocky Mountains, with substantial snows for ID, MT, and northwest WY... perfect for the 2020 Snow Shoot taking place this week in West Yellowstone. A reset may be coming for Colorado, as significant snow is forecasted for the end of this week through the beginning of next week. Avy report for WY, MT, and ID are considerable to high, while Colorado is moderate... be safe out there and be sure to check Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions before you go.
]]>With that being said those of who still waiting on the XSX loops, we have fantastic news that the tool is finally complete and we will be beginning production on those next week. You will also being receiving some pretty cool insider information, look for an email in the next few days.
So again we can not thank you enough, it's you guys that keep us going and we're very excited for the future!

We will select those that best fit on February 28th, good luck!
]]>Just how much snow could we see? Folks east of I-81 will receive the largest impact from this storm but totals will depend on temperatures as a warm front moves through just ahead of the storm. There's a chance the eastern portion of NY could see some mixed precipitation during the day Tuesday ahead of the Arctic front (very unlikely but Upstatesnow.com won't completely rule it out). Snow showers will continue into Wednesday and temperatures begin to plummet as the cold front sets in. Temperatures will struggle to get out of the single digits and for the Adirondacks struggle to get out of the negatives. With that being said lake effect showers will continue throughout the rest of the week... bringing some pretty significant totals to the usual suspects like Tug Hill and East of Lake Erie.
Our friends to the west of us are now experiencing what we're predicting to see late tonight and tomorrow. Heavy snows are currently moving across Michigan, when all said and done they can expect anywhere from 4-8" for lower MI/Eastern UP, Northern IN with a possible 8"+ for central lower Michigan. For tomorrow arctic air pushes in from the north firing up the LES machine, with the air being so cold don't expect much more than a few inches. Temperatures will run well below normal for the next 4 days or so, with double digit negatives for the north woods. Don't forget to check Johndee.com for his daily forecast.
As for the Rockies, not much to report on, looking pretty quiet weather-wise through the remainder of the week. Total snow accumulations below, brought to you by Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions.
]]>We picked Jim's name in front of a live audience (see the video here), at Daiker's Bar & Grill in Old Forge, NY on New Year's Eve. Along with the lucky snowmobile club, the Stratford Snowdrifters, who will receive a part of the proceeds to help maintain their trail system. Thank you to everyone who participated!
]]>
plenty of snow.
We will be there as well, letting people demo skis for day and hanging out with the fans. So mark your calendars and be sure to check out one of the fastest growing snowmobile racing disciplines!
For more info check out the event page on facebook.
]]>So the big question everyone wants to know, just how much are we getting? The heaviest most persistent bands could drop 30"+ in parts of NY and New England. The storm will move into the upstate sometime Saturday afternoon with a snowfall rate of 1-2" an hour. The heaviest snows will come during the overnight slowly diminishing as we go into Sunday. Lake effect snows will continue for the usual recipients, then temperatures drop and the wind picks up creating bone chilling white out conditions. When it's all said and done (if the numbers line up) the whole state of New York could be rideable, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. Check back with UpstateSnow.com this evening for a final call forecast.
As the storm moves into the Midwest plains later today, Johndee.com is calling for a generalized 5-10" from SE South Dakota, SW Minnesota and into NW Iowa. Areas like the rest of Southern Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Indiana, Ohio will likely see around 3-6". Not much action in the north country other than a some light accumulations for the LE snow belt. The freeze line will drop into the southern Midwest as we approach the weekend bringing frigid temperatures down into the north country.
Out west is getting in on the action as well with a snowstorm of their own that has been bringing heavy accumulations all along the eastern side of the divide since Wednesday. It has been absolutely puking snow across western Colorado with places like Steamboat could be measuring in feet by Saturday morning. Don't forget Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions is the place to look before you plan your next ride!
Avalanches safety is always of concern and with the recent wet heavy snowfall and enhanced wind please check before you go!
]]>
Well it's looking like we may catch a break later this week as we finally lock in some colder weather and put all this unseasonable warm weather behind us (for at least a little while). With the cold air returning so does the snow as the LE snow machine kicks back on. This could mean some pretty significant accumulations east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and into the Adirondacks... finally! Other parts of the state not so much but hey at least the cold should help start to freeze the ground back up (small victories). Snow showers will taper off by Friday as temperatures plummet into the single digits and possibly even below 0 for the Adirondacks. As for the weekend we're still a ways out so we're not going to speculate too much but it will remain cold and there is a chance for some more accumulating snow. Check back with Upstatesnow.com as we get closer to find out.
As the cold begins to set in for the midwest today it will bring the freeze line well below the north country into southern Midwest. Lake effect snows will fall across the entire UP, northern MI and WI tapering off sometime tomorrow as temperatures return to average for the remainder of the week. Some light snows will fall over the weekend with the potential for some accumulating snows over the southern midwest but that is still uncertain. You can always check Johndee.com for his detailed daily forecast update.
The Rocky's continue to get pounded, with Colorado, Wyoming, parts of Montana/Idaho racking up some deep numbers. Next snow system to come later this week but not overly promising at the moment. For a complete snow depth list check out Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions website.
]]>You do not need to be present to win, and we will be streaming the drawing live on our Facebook page as it is happening. With the drawing being only 2 short weeks away now is the time to get your late entries in, buy tickets here.
]]>
Our hopes are diminishing by the minute... Upsatesnow.com has released their prediction for the end of 2018 and to be straightforward it flat out sucks. Bitter cold for tomorrow just to warm up by the end of the week with a good chance for rain and high winds. For those areas that have already established a pretty good base it'll be its hardest test yet. Not much riding to be done over the holiday weekend, and some good snows will be needed to replenish the trails. (We won't share the graphics/maps as that'll just add to the frustration.)
Next week is still up in the air, it appears the cold will return to end out 2018 but by this point significant damage will be done. Let's all hope that the cold and snow returns with a vengeance headed into the New Year. Until then enjoy the holidays and the time spent with family and friends.
Johndee.com fears for much the same, fairly quiet for much of the week with above freezing temperatures to round out the week for the Midwest. With the freeze line shooting north well above the UP and into Canada for tomorrow and Thursday. There is hope though as temperatures drop back down near average for the weekend with a chance for some light clipper systems bringing a few inches for the north country. Then following Christmas there is really good chance for some heavy precipitation, let's hope it's in the form of snow as temperatures are still uncertain.
Meanwhile out west Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions is tracking a big storm system looking to dump snow in the Northwest Rockies over the next 5 days or so with totals in the few feet range. At least there's some good news to report in this weather outlook!
]]>
Friday night we kicked things off with a our 2nd Annual Snodeo Party hosted by one of our favorite pit stops in the Old Forge/Inlet area, Duffy's at the Glenmore. With a fresh blanket of snow Thursday night the trails were pristine as the snowmobiles just keep rolling in. We blew last year's attendance out of the water, gave away some awesome prizes and someone went home #curveequipped. Thanks again to Straightline Performance/RSI Racing, Caliber Traction Products, Sledfreak and Sled Junkies for the donations!
Saturday we attended the Amsnow/Dynotech Shootout where the new 2019 models were put head to head to see who's the quickest. Everyone's question at hand, which 850 will come out on top? With much anticipation the Polaris 850 delivered and ran a 9.661 at 101.12 mph. See the full results below.
After the shootout we visited some of the different dealer parties that were going on. Everywhere we went was packed, it was refreshing to see such a great turnout. Not only is it good for our sport but also the local economy and Old Forge region.
Sunday we were back at the Pavilion where we were set up all weekend showcasing our products with the other vendors. We saw a lot of familiar faces and some new ones as well. Everyone we talked to was revved up for the snowmobile season and we couldn't be more excited, see you out on the trails!
]]>Let's just get right to the point, the warm up and heavy rains we sustained this past weekend did not help our case one bit... Everyone lost snow, even up north, but not all of it and with these colder temperatures that moved back in yesterday evening it should allow for things to set back up. Today and tomorrow look quiet but we are hoping and praying we get that lake effect there is a small chance of on Thursday. At this point it's looking promising, it's not going to be great but hopefully it should be rideable.
Upstatesnow.com is back again calling it as it is, the next few weeks are going to suck. No considerable snow events in the forecast and variable temperatures for much of the state. Now with that being said winter isn't over, remember it's still only early December. If you look at past winters and the trends this is normal, we always get these spells... and yes it sucks but overall they're still calling for a good winter.
As for the midwest, JohnDee.com is reporting overall fairly quiet for the next couple weeks with the exception of some LES that could bring a few inches to the north country later this week. Other than that not much on the radar, but the good news is temperatures appear to remain below freezing.
Much of the same can be said for the Rocky Mountains as well. Not much accumulating snow over the next 7 days or so. Then after that the storm cycle should pick back up. Visit Rocky Mountain Sled Conditions before you head out on your next trip.
